First, you'll need to connect ReminderFlow to your Google Calendar. This gives us read-only access to check for events with reminders.
- Click "Get Started" on the homepage
- Click "Connect Google Calendar"
- Log in with your Google account
- Review the permissions and click "Allow"
🔒 Security Note: ReminderFlow only requests READ access to your calendar. We cannot create, edit, or delete any of your events.
We'll ask for your name and phone number to personalize your reminders:
- Enter your name (e.g., "Jordan Watkins")
- Enter your phone number with country code (e.g., "+61411141454")
- Click Continue
💡 Pro Tip: We'll say "Hey Jordan" when we call, making it more personal!
Now create an event in your Google Calendar (or use an existing one). You can do this on any device:
- Open Google Calendar (web, mobile app, or desktop)
- Click a time slot or press "Create"
- Add event details: title, time, location
- Important: Make sure it's in your main calendar (usually "Events" or your email address)
This is the key step! You need to add a custom popup notification to your event:
- In your event, look for "Add notification" or "Notifications"
- Click "Add notification"
- Change the dropdown from "Email" to "Notification" (popup)
- Set how many minutes before: e.g., "10 minutes before"
- Click "Save"
⚠️ Critical: It MUST be a "Notification" (popup), NOT an email reminder. ReminderFlow only detects popup notifications!
That's it! ReminderFlow automatically monitors your calendar every minute and will call you when it's time.
- You'll receive a phone call at the reminder time
- The call will say: "Hey [Your Name], this is ReminderFlow calling. You have [Event Name] at [Time] in [Location]."
- Answer the call to hear your reminder
- If you miss the call, check your missed calls
📞 Call Details: Calls come from your configured Twilio number. Make sure your phone is on and not set to Do Not Disturb!
Want to test if everything works? Create a test event:
- Create an event called "ReminderFlow Test" for 10 minutes from now
- Add a notification: 3 minutes before
- Save it
- In 7 minutes, you should get a call!
🎯 Testing Tip: Use a short reminder time (3-5 minutes) for testing so you don't have to wait long!
